Farms, Wildlife & Animal Sanctuaries In Cornwall

There are many interesting Farm and Animal & Wildlife sanctuaries to visit whilst on holiday. We have provided a list of just some of them below.

 

Blue Reef aquarium in Newquay   

The Monkey Sanctuary is situated in beautiful woodlands overlooking Looe Bay and for nearly 40 years the Victorian House & Gardens have been home to a colony of woolly monkeys. Porfell Animal Land with it’s children’s farm is also an animal sanctuary, home to zebras, snakes, porcupines, wallabies, lemurs, meerkats as well as rabbits, guinea-pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, and many more of your favourite animals.

 

 

   

 

Colliford Lake, Bodmin  

Colliford Lake Park is a farm based attraction with 8 acres of woodland, 30 acres of farm stock with sheep, goats, red deer and other animals and 20 acres of parkland set aside for Family Entertainments, including a protected wetlands area.

 

Gunnislake

The Tamar Valley Donkey Park  has loads of donkeys with lots of other animals such as guinea pigs, chipmunks, rabbits, goats and an aviary. Children’s play area, shop and café.

Gweek, Helston

The National Seal Sanctuary  provides a much-needed haven for Grey and Common Seals, Californian and Patagonian Sea Lions and for a variety of other animals, such as Otters, Ponies and Goats.

Hayle 

Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary is home to around 400 species of birds, a Parrot Jungle, a Fun Farm, miniature railway,  walled gardens as well as Glanmor House.

Porfell Animal Land  with it’s children’s farm is also an animal sanctuary, home to zebras, snakes, porcupines, wallabies, lemurs, meerkats as well as rabbits, guinea-pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, and many more of your favourite animals

The Tortoise Garden  is a sanctuary for the rescue, care and conservation of all breeds of Tortoises. With over 20 years experience with these most wonderful creatures you can guarantee a most fascinating visit.

Mousehole Wirld Bird Hospital & Sanctuary

Mousehole, Penzance  

Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital & Sanctuary  is a genuine sanctuary and hospital for approximately 1500 birds a year needing care with the aim of returning healed birds to the wild.  Free admission with donations kindly accepted.

 

Newquay

Blue Reef Aquarium will amaze you with local marine species from the Cornish coast to hundreds of tropical species in the gigantic ocean display complete with underwater tunnel. Fresh Water Turtle displays with alligator snapping turtles, mud turtles, fly-river turtles and mata mata turtles.

Dairyland Farm World  has been a favourite with families for over 30 years, Dairyland Farmworld is a working diary farm with plenty of play areas such as the ‘Bull Pen, a huge undercover play area with climbing nets and ball pools. There ia a Heritage Centre, a Tractor House & Smithy, a Milking Parlour and a Nature Trail through the valley with woodlands and lakes. Also, are pony and tractor rides.

Newquay Zoo is set in lush sub-tropical gardens and is the home of many of the world's endangered species. It has earned a reputation as one of the best wildlife parks in the country - and one of the most exciting days out in the West-Country.

The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre  has over 50 birds of prey, many of which take part in regular flying displays and participate in 'hands-on' experiences. The Centre is set on open ground with a gentle slope and stunning views

The Tamar Otter Sanctuary

North Petherwin, Launceston

The Tamar Otter Sanctuary is dedicated to breeding otters for release into the wild to save the species from extinction. Visitors can watch the otters at play and in their breeding dens and see orphaned cubs in the rehabilitation centre.

 

 

Old MacDonalds Farm

Portcothan Bay, Padstow  

Old MacDonalds Farm  is the perfect place for kids to see, feed and hold animals such as rabbits, lambs and claves. Trampolines, pony rides, crazy golf and train rides make this the perfect day out for the kids

St Columb, Newquay

Screech Owl Sanctuary provides care and rehabilitation for wild sick and injured owls within Cornwall, and where possible ensures their safe release back to the wild when they are fully recovered, and if permanently disabled a comfortable home shall be provided in a suitable environment.

St Erth, Hayle

Cheney Mill Farm Park  is set in 12 acres and is a family run business, run with families in mind.  It offers a ‘hands on’ experience - including feeding farm animals and handling small mammals, together with a range of other small animals and birds. Other facilities include picnic areas, café, outdoor play area, adventure golf course, battery bike race track and mini mechanical diggers
